PostgreSQL - follow the elephant

It looks as if the new HP Server from ICC - International Computer Connections will be arriving soon, so I've been looking at what software to use on it.The most common setup for a server is LAMP (Linux-Apache-MySQL-PHP), so I've reviewed all the packages I need and what I need them for. I already have one project that stretches the current database server software. So I decided to look at a DBMS other than MySQL, I've used Postgre and MSSQL (Transact or whatever you want to call it) in the past, so I had a look at both options. Postgres is free, and has functionality that I see far surpassing MySQL and MSSQL for my needs, it object functionality, direct programming languages and table size are what has done it for me.So, I get big databases, and for a 'LAPP' stack direct database programmatic access, which means more power and speed.The small downside, everything on my current server is in MySQL - so I need to change a few bits and pieces.
